Dates for your Diary

Annual Busking Competition this Labour Weekend right outside the Backpackers

You couldn't stay closer to the busking competition this weekend at The Mount and there is $3,000 in prizes to be won!

Great free family entertainment! Between 11am and 12.30pm the junior competitors (under 16’s) will try and “wow” the judges and win the Public Vote. The Open Section is on Sunday and there’s a total prize pool of $3,000 over both days!

Calling all talented street performers, artists,  singers, dance groups … are you keen to come and compete in our Busking Festival?  The word "busk" comes from the Spanish root word "buscar", meaning "to seek" – buskers are literally seeking fame and fortune!  Are you ready to seek yours?!

Performances can be just about anything that people find entertaining. You may do acrobatics, caricatures, clowning, comedy, contortions & escapes, dance, singing, juggling, magic, mime, musical performance, puppeteering, street art (sketching and painting, etc.), and street theatre. We have performers of all ages and levels so if you have a special talent or ability, come and busk in our Busking Festival at Labour Weekend!  Contact Leanne Brown to obtain your entry form  www.mountmaunganui.org.nz

Beach now open for Surfing

The main beach has reopened, the beach is now clear of oil.  The recent ship wreck and Oil spillage has been terrifying for Mount Locals and 100s of volunteers have been helping to patrol the beach and clean up but we are all good now - time to Surf!
